Holland America Lines, HAL, part of the Carnival Group, the world’s largest cruise liner company has just installed dimmable Uni-light 105 LED W lights, to replace all existing Metal Halide lights (150W) on board one of its cruise liners. The Uni-light LED alternative has an identical light curve and illumination and save remarkable energy costs as well as A/C and maintenance costs. The lights are installed to light up jewelry and clothing counters at expensive shops on the ship. The longevity increases from 9,000 hours (when 50 % of the Metal Halide lights are burnt out) to minimum 50,000 hours when the LED lights may have lost max. 30 % of their illumination capacity.
